Wedding Gift Registry Ideas

It can be difficult for many people to choose a wedding gift. If you are like most people, you want to find a special gift for the bride and groom that will last them for a long time. You will also want to put some thought into the gift, making certain it is something they can use or that they don't already have. How can you be certain you're getting a gift the happy couple is likely to enjoy? If the bride has thought ahead, she will be enrolled in a wedding gift registry.

What is a Wedding Gift Registry?

A wedding gift registry is a computerized list that the couple has completed at a department store or other related store. This list enables the couple to list specific gifts they would like to receive. Anyone that wishes to purchase a gift from this registry can easily visit the store's website or physically visit the store. In either case, you can view the gifts the couple selected, minus those that have already been purchased by other wedding guests. A salesperson can print out the list at the store for you to use as a reference point, making it easier for you to begin your shopping. Of course, if you are using the online facility, the list can be uploaded and printed online as well.

Valuable Resource

The most reassuring feeling you can get by purchasing a gift from a wedding gift registry is the knowledge that you're giving something the couple truly wants or needs. The registry will list specific patterns, colors, and numbers of each are needed. This reduces the likelihood of the couple needing to return gifts that are unwanted or inappropriate. And, since items that have already been purchased are removed from the list, there is no concern that another guest will duplicate the gift you purchase.

Gift Registry Inventory

You can find almost anything on a gift registry. If it's part of the store's inventory, it can be included on the wedding gift registry. Linens, tapestries pots and pans, blankets, and every imaginable knick-knack! When completing a registry, the bride and groom should complete their registry with items they are sure to use - if they don't enjoy Oriental cooking, there's no point including a wok. In addition, they should never include items just for the sake of having them on the list. Each entry on the gift registry should have been carefully thought-out by the bride and groom.

Stores

Most couples want a variety of items from many different stores. This is perfectly normal. There is nothing that says a bride and groom cannot register in many different stores. The beauty of this is that it provides a wide range of choices for gift givers. In addition, most stores now offer registry, with many of them being easily available online.

Spending Limit

Some say the wedding gift should cost as much as the couple pays "per-head" for the wedding guests. This isn't true. In actuality, there is no pre-set amount you should follow. In fact, you should simply spend whatever you are comfortable with. Luckily, wedding registries contain gifts within all price ranges. There is no reason to feel ashamed if you pass over a more expensive item in favor of one that is more within your price range. The happy couple will appreciate your thoughtfulness no matter how much you spend.

Finally, there's nothing to say you must purchase a gift from a registry. If there's something you really want to give to the couple, and it's not on the list, it's ok to go ahead and purchase the item. It is sure to be appreciated. A wedding registry is simpy another convenient way to help guests purchase gifts the bride and groom will be happy to receive.
