TIP:
Labeling the Inner Envelope of Your Wedding Invitation
Have you decided to include an inner envelope within your wedding invitation? Although using two envelopes is no longer considered to be an etiquette requirement, many couples still choose to include an inner envelope as a matter of tradition or simply to add to the formality of the
occasion.
If you do decide to use an inner envelope, it is important to follow the proper etiquette for addressing this envelope. Since the inner envelope is not meant to assist the post office with delivering your wedding invitation, it should not contain the guest's address or your return address.
Rather, it should simply contain the last name of the guest and the proper designation. For example, it might say "Mr. and Mrs. Doe" or "Miss Doe and Guest." This label should be placed on the front and in the middle of the inner envelope, which is left unsealed before
placing it in the outer envelope.
